Greeting Card Message #1:

Spring blossoms the hundreds of flowers,

autumn the moon.

Summer brings cool breezes, winter the snow.

If you are freed from hangups and trivialities,

This would be the splendid season!

Verse by Wumen Huikai (1183–1260),

the Gateless Barrier (case 19, tr. Guo Gu)

Greeting Card Message #2:

You are already free. But knowing this is not enough.

You have to live it.

Passing through the Gateless Barrier, Guo Gu

(864-949 C.E.): "Where do all the buddhas come from?"

Yunmen replied: "East mountain walks on water."
